Welcome to the Oceania Beach Handball Championships this event will store all information regarding the event. This is an international event that will serve as the qualifying event for the IHF World Championships for 2026, hosted by Croatia in June.

The Pioneer sand courts offer a premium playing surface for beach sports, nestled within the versatile Pioneer Stadium complex, just 10 minutes from the centre of Christchurch. Athletes and supporters can enjoy convenient access to top-notch amenities such as spacious changing rooms, showers, ample parking, and a spectating embankment with shading from trees. With additional facilities like the on-site fitness centre, café, and pool at Pioneer Stadium, the venue provides a quality space to host the premier beach handball tournament of Oceania.

Water will be available for athletes and the onsite Café can provide refreshments and meals for athletes, officials and spectators alike. within 15 minutes walking distance is the Barrington Mall which has a much more diverse range of food and beverage options.

The general timeline is

Billeting and pick-ups/ drop-offs in Christchurch will be organised by players in the region and any reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed up to a value of $250.

• 14th of February - Team Registration filled out (This does not include which players form your squad).

• 21st of February - Team List sent back to organisers & last date for early bird payments.

• 27th of February – Final Date for payments.

Mixed Social Information

We are going to run a double elimination bracket with drawn teams This starts at 6pm sharp so Players are expected to be there at 5:45pm. The schedule, teams and draw are shown below.

What a great start to the National Beach Handball Championship for 2023, with nearly thirty players out on the sand we kicked off the Championship with a double elimination Mixed Tournament. There were some excellent skills on display from both our old hands and some great new talent.

The first round of games ended with clear victors but then every game following this ended in penalties. The Toru team after getting beaten in the first game fought through the loser’s bracket and won 3 penalty shootouts in a row to take home the Crown.
