Te Kapa Pā-ringa Ō Pango (NZ Handball Haka)
2020 NZ Senior Mens Team for the 19th Asian Mens Handball Championship, Kuwait
Te Kapa Pā-ringa Ō Pango is the haka specially written for the NZ Handball Men’s team. The haka inspires the team to strive for excellence and reach new heights. Hemi Prime, who wrote the haka, quotes the Maori saying,
Iti rearea kahikatea ka taea
‘Iti rearea is one of the smallest birds but it can reach the highest tree’
The NZ team is relatively new in comparison to the rest of the handball world. But anything is possible. The haka seeks to uplift the mana of not only the team but also of handball in New Zealand.
Listen to Hemi Prime, author of the haka.
