IHF reported on our 2018 NZ Handball Regional Championships held in Auckland last weekend.
James Cochrane, captain of the winning men's team Wellington Region said:
“The competition provides an opportunity for players to play high-quality competition against teams from other regions. It is important to play these regions to increase skill level amongst the regions on court, but it is also important as it encourages the culture within handball in New Zealand socially, off the court, and gets the regions to work together in support of the NZHF to grow handball in New Zealand.”
Canterbury's Jaclyn Parker, captain of the winning Women's team also commented, saying:
“This tournament is a great way to develop a high-performance pathway in New Zealand. The level of competition this weekend has been outstanding and games closely fought, evidenced by the close score lines, particularly in the women's competition.”
