Mixed Social Information

We are going to run a double elimination bracket with drawn teams This starts at 6pm sharp so Players are expected to be there at 5:45pm. The schedule, teams and draw are shown below.

What a great start to the National Beach Handball Championship for 2023, with nearly thirty players out on the sand we kicked off the Championship with a double elimination Mixed Tournament. There were some excellent skills on display from both our old hands and some great new talent.

The first round of games ended with clear victors but then every game following this ended in penalties. The Toru team after getting beaten in the first game fought through the loser’s bracket and won 3 penalty shootouts in a row to take home the Crown.

2022 Beach Handball Oceania Championship (Gold Coast, Australia)

RESULTS

The Squads, coached by Timothy Rayner, represented New Zealand in Coolangatta at the Oceania Championships with historic results for both sides. The Women’s side beat Australia for the first time in an international match, but just fell short in the other two games, eventually settling for 2nd. The Men took Aussie the distance and in a thrilling penalty shootout beat the Australian side to take out first place. This is the first time that a NZ side has qualified for the World Championships by right.

The NZHF wishes to thank Handball Australia for hosting the event. Keep a sharp eye on our socials to follow the boys along their World Champs Journey.

CANCELLED - NZHF Senior Regionals

  • Pioneer Recreation & Sport Centre (map)

Tēnā koutou katoa,

It is with regret that NZHF has decided that it is untenable to hold the Regional Championships planned for next month in the current Covid Climate. With one of our four active regions being highly unlikely to be able to attend, and the logistical challenges and risks involved in trying to run a meaningful event in level 2, we feel the right thing to do is call it now. Unfortunately we don’t see any prospect of running this event on a later date in 2021.

The NZHF is aware that players have had limited chance to play inter-regionally. We are working hard so next year’s Handball Calendar will provide players ample opportunity to play handball in New Zealand.
