The members and friends of the New Zealand Handball Federation mourn the passing of Sir Geoffrey Henry KBE. His death is a great loss, not just to handball in Oceania, but in particular to handball in the Cook Islands. Sir Geoffrey was a member of the OCHF Excecutive Committee, President of the Cook Island Handball Association, Vice President of the Commonwealth Handball Association and a fomer prime minister of the Cook Islands. On 13 June 1992, while serving as Prime Minister, Sir Geoffrey was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) by Queen Elizabeth II. Sir Geoffrey died on 9 May 2012 at age of 71.
