The New Zealand Handball Federation is run by an Executive Committee. We have adopted a set of rules, by which we run and administer the organisation.
The Executive Committee currently has five elected members:
>> Éric MOUHICA
Éric, of Christchurch, is an experienced French division player, who after spending many years fostering the growth and development in the Wellington region has moved and settled with his young family in Christchurch. Now a ‘true’ kiwi, he is a lecturer at Canterbury University and is the founder and President of the Canterbury University Handball Club.
>> Gaston FUSO
NZHF Vice President
Gaston, of Auckland, is originally from Argentina and in New Zealand since 2008. Beside that he is an experienced player, he is also a very committed and passionate Handball organizer who put a lot of energy and effort into the growth of the Auckland Handball community. Thanks to him and others from the Auckland region, Handball is growing bigger every year.
>> Daniel TRIEBSCH
Daniel, of Wellington, Daniel is an experienced German division player who worked in the development and growth of the Wellington region since coming to New Zealand in 2007. Over the years he was instrumental for Wellington Handball in establishing a league and driving continuous growth in the region.
Daniel is also the founder of the Vikings Handball club (previous name Ballermann 007) and co-founder of the Wellington Handball Federation.
>> Justin COPE
Justin, of Christchurch, is New Zealand born sporting multi-talent. He is a keen Rugby and Cricket player, but after hearing in 2005 that a Handball club started in Christchurch he became infatuated with this new sport. He quickly made himself a name as one of NZ’s best goalkeepers, representing NZ now for multiple years and counting. He is also a gifted organiser and beside fostering the growth of Handball in Christchurch, he managed the U21 Mens National Team Tour of Europe in 2007.
>> Ben Potaka
NZHF General Executive Member
Director for Beach Handball
Ben , of Wellington, is also New Zealand born and started playing Handball in 2007. In 2008 he was selected for the New Zealand Team and continues to play at this top level. When Ben joined the sport he instantly started to organise a new team, and eventually helped Eric start the Christchurch University Handball Club. When he moved back to his home city he started the very successful wellington school league (with the help of Jessie Barwick and Claire Hammond) and after coaching the NZHF Under 20 team he started his second club, the Hutt Hawks Handball Club. Now Ben is organizing the Wellington Handball League, he is coaching the Porirua women’s Team and has joined the NZHF executive in the hope of developing Beach Handball further.
